EPS-DC & EPS-DC + AGV - Electronic Power Steering Items for DC Steer Motors

This equipment provides electric power steering on manually controlled and automatic wire guided machines.

Items shown are

Steering Motor Mosfet Controller A 4 Quadrant chopper for DC Permanent Magnet motors. The basic EPS controller can be fitted with an additional circuit board to provide the automatic guidance functions.

A Tachogenerator (driven by the steering wheel) provides the input requirements to the controller. Antenna (2 required) for automatic guidance machines. These items pick up the magnetic fields generated by wire embedded in the floor. The signals pass to the CPU controlling the vehicle’s direction.

DC Permanent Magnet Motor & Gearbox Power can be between 100W and 600W.

Additional items available:

Line Driver (Signal Generator for the Guide Wire).

Steer Angle Position Potentiometer Mounted on the end of the output shaft of the steer motor gearbox, this device outputs a voltage representing steering angle.

Digital Console Used to Programme the Mosfet Controller and adjust Parameters.

Electrical Specifications:

Battery Voltage:

  • Voltage input range for different releases of Steering Controller Mother Boards
  • Universal Release: 24 - 80 Volts DC 24/48V Release: 24 - 48 V DC

  • Environmental Protection - IP44
  • Complies with European CE Standards

ZTA - Electric Steering Torque Amplifier

This equipment provides electric power steering on battery powered vehicles and has been designed for operation on medium sized machines, not heavier than 4,000Kg on the steered wheels. The product fits between the Steering Wheel (usually fitted to the top of the ZTA) and the Steering Box. A suitable clamp is necessary to retain the unit, fixed generally in the middle. Good alignment is essential

Description of operation:

The unit contains a Permanent Magnet Motor, Controller, Sensor and two Epicyclic Gear Boxes.

An output torque (amplified) is provided depending upon angle variance between input and output shafts.

The ZTA provides steering on demand. Current is drawn only when force is required to turn the steering and is proportional to the speed the steering is turned and the battery voltage.

Current drawn is 50% of a conventional hydraulic system.

Meets European Safety Standards.

In the event of electrical failure, mechanical operation remains, but obviously with greater effort required.

  Output Torque (mm) Weight (Kg)
ZTA 35 25 12.8
ZTA 70 50 15.4
ZTA 105 105 17.8

Installation:

Centers of steering wheel, ZTA, coupling and steering box should all be on the same plane.

Technical Features:

  • Supply Voltage: 24-80V
  • Reverse Polarity Protection
  • Input/Output Transmission Ratio: 1:1
  • Thermal Motor Protection
  • Enclosure to UP65
